Been out of the ski world for the last 6 or so years, however I'm still mechanically inclined as most of my friends drop their skis off to be worked on.
A friend of mine just picked up a 96 rn with supposedly a 760 out of a wave raider I think? He test rode it and said that it absolutely ripped when he bought it. a few days later it wouldn't start, and like the friend I am, he dropped it off to me. I trouble shot the thing and found that it was just the starter so I went ahead and replaced it. Going through the ski, it was put together by a crack head. the ebox is also from a sit down so every wire is 8ft too long. Fuel lines going every which direction.. The head is a 61x but the cylinder is 62t. don't know if the heads are any different between the 2. It was a pretty awful sight for a round nose. Anyways, I tidy'd the thing up as best as I could, I bought new fuel line and realized that the carbs were on backwards. IDK if that effects the ski, but I took it to parker this weekend to test and the thing seems like its running on one cylinder. I would not get on plane to save its life. I replaced the plugs to see if that did anything and it didn't. My question is, since my buddy said that the ski worked flawless and now after a new starter, it doesn't run for poop.. could backwards carbs be an issue? I will obviously be flipping them around and doing a rebuild on them. I just don't see why it doesn't run after the starter. Could one carb not be getting fuel? I am not a fan of dual carbs and really only have experience with single. Any advice would be appreciated.
