oh yeah , thats the best time to start running a -2 stock pole
I also applied either epoxy or 5200 in addition to the rivets.

Chop the lower portion (or top), grind inside the bracket down to bare metal, grind the handlepole down to bare fiberglass/smc/frp/whatever it is, reattach with generous amounts of J-B Weld and rivets. I did mine years ago, even redid it to shorten it some more, and it's solid still. The J-B keeps the rivets from loosening, and is really what holds together anyway.
 
I did this yesterday, you realy dont even need to pull the wires from the pole, just hacksaw your way around it, and be carefull not to cut any wires/cabbles. I added a couple of extra rivets. Thought about the 5200 idea, but didnt do it. The pole feels awsome, and the ski feels 10x better with the -2.
