300/440/550 92 Nightmare 550sx..

I'm replacing the front crank seal and I need information about "cracking" the casings. Can someone with correct information please respond to this. This is my first ski and I'm glad I got it for cheap. Anything would be beneficial at this point.

Welcome to the x bud, nice find. The cases arent that bad to crack. You can either dissasemble the whole engine top end down or you can cheat and flip the motor upside down and take the bottom case off. On my 750 I done that cause I didnt want to break down my top end. You will see on the bottom of the motor the bolts/nuts that allow you to pop the bottom case off, use a rubber mallot to separate the cases. Replace front and rear seals while your at it. You will have to pull you stator on the elec side to get to that seal and the coupler on the other side. Be sure your crank dowls fit back like supposed to. Use threebond 1211 or something equivalent to reseal the cases. Put some grease on the inside of the seals where they seal to the crank. Once reassembled and dried you will want to pressure test the motor just to make sure its sealed well.
