300/440/550 A little help for a newbie

Well i bought my first 440 and everything went very well for the price, i went out about 4 times and it started to sound like its starving for fuel and wont stay running. It also wont run to it expectations it bogs and all that good stuff. out of water it seems to start and go a lil better. i just rebuilt the carb, but havent put it on yet. anyone have any sugestions on what to do ???

i think it is the crank seal but can someone give me a visual of how i would go about replacing this, because i took the cover off but dont kno how i am gonna go about taking the rest off.

thanks

to replace the crank seals you need to pull the motor out of the ski, remove front cover, flywheel & stator
remove the rear pto (coupler)
remove the bedplate from the motor
turn the engine upside down & remove the case bolts
split the crank case halfs
replace the crank seals
clean mating surfaces & reseal with sealant (1211 sealer i think) get good sealer or you will be doing this for nothing
reinstall all removed parts in reverse order, you might want to get a manual.
or you can pull the motor & take it to a reutable shop & they will install the seals for you

you will need a flywheel puller & the couplers are a pita to get off

yamabond works well for putting cases togeather again as well... couplers not that bad to get off.. but lock yer crank some how. i used a pipe wrench to get mine off LOL. its ghetto but it worked. and thats probably how i'd do it again too. good luck. if you want to do it right theres a coupler removal tool but there hard to come by and when you do find them there pricey and you need a pretty powerful impact wrench.
