92 750 sx question

I picked up a used 750 with a factory pipe on it. I'm putting it back together
and can figure out what this black solenoid is for. It has a water line in and one that goes out then some electrical connections. It doesn't look like the previous owner had it hooked up. Do I need it and How is it suppose to be connected?

Thats a temp sensor if im thinking of the same thing... i have the same thing on my 92. My hoses are cut so as to not set it into limp mode when the motor gets hot... i thnk im going to fully disconnect mine from the box bc its still setting it into limp.

I must say that my engine has gotten hotter than I'd like to take it ever again in the past with it hooked up to the temp sensor and I've never had it go limp. The only reason mine is disconnected now is because I have total loss. Otherwise, I would leave it for piece of mind...
