90 SN SJ lost power but still runs and starts??

i was riding and fell off got back on. started ski took off but the ski was smoking alot and not wanting to rev up to a high RPM. Could it just be a fouled plug?? oh yeah its mint stock condition:shrug:

overheating? water flowing out the side good?

have you checked compression? What is it in each hole?

probably need more info to get a precise diagnosis.
One thought is there is an electronic safeguard that keeps the ski from reving up when it is overheated (temp sensor is on top of the head with a wire that goes to the eBox).

check temp of head and pipe with a splash of water

Not sure why it would happen just cause you fell off but an exhaust leak will keep it from winding out (not enough oxygen). I've had exhause gaskets fail and do that to me. I had to open hood halfway to get back to shore.

Yeah its not overheating at all no water sizzle after a splash. good compression. ive replaced the plugs now just havent had a chance to water test. but after a quick start and rev in the garage it sounds high rev again and the smoke is back to normal 2 stroke standards. but it all changes when it hits the water!

What's "good compression" translate into PSI?

I've had a similar occurrence with our XP. Changing plugs solved problem.

150 psi is about right for most stock twins... If you were falling alot you may have just fouled a spark plug...
