88 650sx troubleshooting

Had the ski out again this weekend to test the new cooling line routing. Everything held up and it seemed to have mad the ski a tad quieter, but all and all everything is working much better.

One issue continues though. If the ski sits for a while it will not start. I need to prime the carborator by taking air filter off and dumping fuel down into it. Then it fires right up and runs great. Will continue to restart no problems until it sits for more than a week. Then I need to do a repriming.

This ski has the choke set up so I got the BN44 carb also with the choke, but maybe I should have went with the primer options.

Primers have solved that exact problem on some of the older skis I've had, way easier than pulling the air filter and dumping fuel down its throat. It's really easy to swap the choke for a primer. Just need the plug fitting and barb fitting for the carb, a piston/plunger primer (don't get the bulb, they suck), a tee fitting, and some ⅛" fuel line.

Before you do all that come out on the low speed screw adjuster about a turn , idle it back up with the idle adjustment and see how that works for you , sometimes you have to fine tune that a bit as each ski reacts differently , I will say it works wonders on Yamaha's and they will usually crank with no choke after that , if that doesn't work for you , then install a primer kit .
