Freestyle 865 Xscream vs Dasa 8mil

The dasa 6mm will cost you a little over $6k for the short block. If you wanted to go bigger I am selling my almost new 1100 16mm. Ill let it go for $6950. Not sure if you want to go that big. Also the money saved could fund carbs etc. Just a though.

Luke, your Epic will work fine with either engine I have lots of customers running them with these set ups, in fact a programmable ignition is a big advantage with these more powerful engines. My advice would be to save the money from changing it and put it towards some bigger carbs.
Chris.

Luke call me its Ovey if you want
Been running an 865 Xscream fro 12 months its a animal does not miss a beat :):):):) loads of power for small surf. Reason i went 865 stock stroke cheaper rebuild if need in the future.
As you know a few boys running the 865 now in Sydney no issues at all. To get the best out of these motors install a FLAME. Wish my ski was running so you could of rode it. Or install a Flame on your 701.
My back ski i was riding as a 701 81mm no port at all with comp reed and 46s with a FLAME its an animal everyone that rides it can t believe its a little 701 Jase and Pete rode it on Friday ask them what they thought.
I ride allot so stock stroke wins for me Xscream 865 talk to Craig AJSP

Chrisman thanks but probably a bit of overkill for me. Would be crazy though..

Qjs thanks for your help. So if I was to just try a carb upgrade 1st and see how that goes what would you suggest seeing I have oem 44s? Would 46s make a big difference.

Ovey cheers man. Yeh wish I got to have a ride of someones 865 to get a feel for it. Wire is going to give me a go of his 8mil dasa next time i'm at the gold coast so we'll see how that goes. Wire swears by his stroker. He was saying they get used everyday in the shows and after for practice and are still going strong and reckons they hit heaps harder than a 865.

I do a lot of hours every weekend so that why I want to make sure its a reliable setup. I've been speaking to Wire and he runs 8mil Dasa's in the ski for the sea world show and he says they a super reliable and his choice is deffinately the Dasa over the Xscream He said they are running stock electrics just with an enhancer and TBM flywheel. My motor is already ported with shaved head running 180psi, epic, lightened stock flywheel, 44s, 144m mag pump.
Its a hard choice.. Keep the comments coming..

As i said in my last post.. Mine is a 802/ 8mil x-scream motor.. reliable ?? well i did have to turn the idle screw once... Yea i beat the crap out of it and its still winning (beating me up more)
second season..most weeks riding at least 2 twice a week.. I did have to take it apart and clean it up after it went looking for shells durning a hurricane swell ... (he hee) mine runs there carbs and intake.. enhancer, b-pipe, stock pump with tbm.. your light hull and the mag combo and you would have one bad ass ski...

"jump on it" have you been on a better running ski then mine.. You know i beat the crap out of it and you know its never missed a beat...
Yes stroker cranks cost big bucks but give bigger BANG..

I started this motor with 44's and worked r+d intake i thought it was great.. then went to there 46 combo and yea it did make a very large differance.. Sorry that is expensive..

615 Freeriders are addicted to T1 madness.
One thing nice about the Dasa Motor is it uses a CR500 piston avail anywhere, so if cheaper rebuilds is you thinking then
this is something to consider. The Xscreem has cleaner port work (alot of hand porting) and I beleive a more flat top type piston so it should rev faster. There is a give and take in both. Also, the case work Xscreem does is a little more detailed than Dasa as well assuming you will have them completely build the motor for you.
A great reliable setup though IMO is a Dasa 1000 built by them, great power, no radical porting but more reliable for long term IMO.
There is more power to be had from them and xsreem finds that but at a little higher reliablity risk IMO (case side speaking).
Cost for a stroker crank vrs an OEM stroke depends on if you buy a rebuilt welded OEM or a billet OEM, if billet the cost is the same. If you go with rebuilding your current crank then its MUCH cheaper $400 vrs $1100 so $700 difference.
Hope this helps, but please keep in mind that what you bolt to these matters more than anything. If you bolt OEM 44's an enhancer and a non ported bpipe with pump gas compression you will never get full potential from any of these motors. Just sayin.
in your shoes I would go with a stock stroke 865 from one of these guys and spend the extra on some bolt ons.

whats the price point on a dasa ss 865 vs a xs ss865?

If you mean upgrade the carbs on your current setup I would say fit a Flame first, the 701's with stock carbs and a Flame we run over here surprise everyone. If you mean for the SS865 or Dasa stroker then a set of cabs would be a big help.

I got to admit your motor pulls very strong, I was very impressed...

Honestly it will be hard to pick the differences from 44 to 46s abit of waste of money i think.

Totally agree the 8mil hits harder than a 865 and yes Wire rides the :):):):) out of his if i was ever going to go stroker it would an 8mil 100% its a tuff cost factor is another one.
Try ride an 865 with a TL FLAME.
