I have an 86 js 300 that likes to blow off the exhaust coupler( blow up,:skull2: explosion!!!) It only happens when I try to start it, not all the time. But I have found out that when I prime it and then hold the throttle w/o It will not do this. My fuel settings are right where the manufacturer said it needs to be. I still have the round body carb that has been rebuilt and also the engine was rebuilt 1mm over and new crank seals were also put in. since the rebuild, I have not had it in the water to ride it. I have ran it dry for a few seconds here and there. the last time that it happened, black oil ran out of the exhaust cone where it blew apart at. I kind of wonder if this is my culprit,( the black oil) causing it to blow up( sounds like a 12 gauge shot gun). I hope that somebody knows why it does this.
