85mm nozzle wet wolf

I have stock impeller and stock pump. Just wondering what results will be with stock pump but with 85mm taper bore and wet wolf cone? I've searched but nothing found with stock pump only talks about mag+hooker+85mm bore nozzle.

Start with the cone. Then get a good prop. Bore your nozzle after you've done some engine mods. I recommend a 12/17 skat.

As a rule of thumb more volume behind the prop will take longer to build pressure so your power band will be into higher rpms when the prop grabs.

my concern is that a small cone and big bore nozzle on a stock small hub impeller that I'll will loose pressure as u indicate. 701 has been worked over stock. Riva red, MSD lighten flywheel etc. Given engines not always equal has anyone run stock pump with small cone + 85mm taper nozzle? It makes sense that power band may be higher as pump will need to build pressure but that leads me to think I'll cavitate or have poor throttle response on low end.

If you go small cone and big nozzle and it slips to much you can go back to a larger cone. If that's still not enough you can repitch the prop yourself pretty easy and make it steeper. It's all about the fine tuning. No one's going to know your details once you start talking minor changes like cone size.
