8 mm strocker crankshaft ....

Hi,
In few month, I'll buy a +8mm crankshaft for superjet but I don't know who actually build this type of material......
Anybody know ?

Can I use stock 62T cases with little modification or it's necessary to find specific cases ?

Thanks

You will also need an aftermarket tall cylinder block to be able run anything over 6mm stroke. All 8mm and up strokers have to use a long rod to clear the piston at bottom dead center.
Cylinder block will need to be about 5.062 tall...I use ADA's and Lamey cylinders for my big bore 90mm X 8mm strokers. These motors come out to 967cc's.
62T cases work fine, just like IHOP said epoxy up and machine for rod clearance.

Chuck, can you provide more info on this? I have a set of epoxied cases already. To modify them to clear an 8mm crankshaft, besides boring the cases to fit the larger sleeves, and matching the transfer area to the new cylinders, what else needs to be done?

It would also be necessary to re-inforce the bottom part of the cases as the machining for the 8mm may cause the bottom to be paper thin.

The cases need to be clearanced for the webs and the lower rod journals.

With the 8mm crank the cases will need to be reinforced with epoxy at the very bottom and with the 10mm stroke it will go through the aluminum with machining.

Chuck makes a nice billet aluminum plate that bolts to the case bottom for the extra large stroker engines.

For an 8mm hotrods crank, will taking out 2mm from the cases' journal area be sufficient? Is normal 3-1 epoxy that I would use for fiberglass repair okay for filling into the bottom case webbing? Thanks.

From my limited conversations with a couple builders on this subject, a metal working epoxy is preferred. Randy @ Watcon sells that A+B epoxy. Paul seems to like DevCon products.
