760 in 650 ....

Hi ,

I have a very clean 760 Engine and was wondering about a conversion into a 650 SJ SN. I want to ride rec freestyle.

Here is what I got on information so far and I am glad for any additional input.

- Stock exhaust will not fit, use Factory exhaust for 701 engine , which one should I get ?
- Use 760 Electrical, anything like rev limiter which has to be cut ?
- Get Moto Tassinari Delta V froce 2 reeds ?
- Get a spacer for the Reeds from Riva ?

Anything else recommended ?

Thank you for help.

Any Superjet B-Pipe will work. The cylinder has larger exhaust manifold holes. So, you can either put inserts into them to reduce the size, or drill the holes in the FPP manifold bigger.
The exhaust port shape is a little different. You could just get a 760 manifold I suppose.
I would make the regular 701 fit. The shape is no problem. You can grind it or leave it alone.

Use stock 760 electrics, including box, everything.
Get reeds if you must. Not a necessity, and expensive.
If you run VF2, definitely get a spacer - that will extend reed life.

Thank you !

Would you recommend for rec freestyle ? I have heard mixed opinions about the low end punch ?

But compared to a 650 it should be better anyway shouldnt it ?

The 760 engine will fit just fine but you have to change your coupler and if you use an girdled head you will have to cut the aluminum tabs off of the cylinder on the exhaust side for the hardware to work. Also if you're going to run a b-pipe you will have to install 8x1.25 helicoils in the exhaust bolt holes to make the smaller size for the exhaust manifold to bolt up. You will have to change the stator and flywheel from your 61x 650; it will bolt right up. If the engine has the dual 44 carbs you may need to chande the jetting a little to handle the reduced ski load. Other then that it will just bolt right up with no problems.

No need to use the 650 stator and flywheel if he's got the complete 760 electrical setup.

There's also no real imminent need to run a girdled head with the beefier T cylinder.
