What about the other wire nexr to the sensor

Check your schematic. All the sensor does is put the CDI in limp mode is the f it “senses” hot water temp out of the engine. They fail as they get older.

The only wires you need are for your spark plugs, stator, and start stop switch.

Water temp sensor not necessary. I forget what the other one is, but you don't need it.
