750 ssxi will start but will not run

I just purchased a 95 kawasaki 750 ssxi and it has a "rebuilt" top and bottom on it or so the guy said and it dry ran in the parking lot so I got it home and took everything out and cleaned it. But when I put it back together no fuel was getting to the carbs I tried cleaning the carbs, it will start with starting fluid but then dies shortly after? Idk what else to try

Is the on/off/reserve valve working correctly?

Never use starting fluid on a 2-stroke as there is no lubrication in it. If anything mix a little premix and put it down the carbs.

The way I checked the valves was I sucked through the hose and turned it to off and it appeard to work correctly that way.

Fuel pumps? As in plural? And it's the kehini carbs or something like that we just got the clear fuel lines will post update soon

Depends on carbs some have a fuel pump for each carb. Im pretty sure the keihin carbs only have one fuel pump. Proper check valve on the gas tank? Make sure it is letting air in and not out ( someone may have put it on backward and its causing a vacuum in the tank and not letting fuel into the lines)

So it ran when you bought it? What do you mean by you took everything out and cleaned it? Did you have fuel lines disconnected?

To see if the fuel pump is working, you don’t have to swap to clear lines. Just pull the return line from the tank, put it over a container or bucket, turn the engine over and it should pump fuel if working.
