701 surf boat setup

less work more surf
Hi guys just want som advice on what I should do next to make the thing a bit more responsive down low. Not too fussed on mega HP just want a bit more snap.

Current setup:

62T 701
b-pipe
chokes removed from carbs
stock ignition fitted with adjustable rev limit pot
carbon reeds and reed stuffers
Skat trak prop 9-?? not sure will look tonight.

My thoughts:

Widen up the exhaust ports
Notch the bottom of the sleeve on the inlet side
Some sort of carbs(not sure what)
skim and re-skwish band the head for more compression
Prop of some sort

Any help would be appriciated

Cheers

you can start with something easy and cheap like a jetworks flow control valve to dry out the waterbox at low rpms. made a noticeable difference on my ski. also bore the nozzle out.

If you're porting the exhaust don't go any wider than 66% of the bore size and try not to raise the height very much especially if it's a 62T cylinder.

I wouldn't notch the 62T 701 sleeve because of the ridge groove around the bottom skirt but you could round off the edges on the intake side and finger port the cases.

You can advance the timing 2 or 3 degrees for some more bottom end and add a flow control valve or restrictor at the stinger inlet.

Also you could probably find a used higher compression 35cc head cheaper than it would cost to have your existing head machined.

Just use your stock 38mm carbs because you're not going to increase the bottom end going with larger AM carbs.
