701 build advice

Hello everyone

Let me say a few things. First off I am pretty mechanicaly incline. 2 im not a total noob to all engine stuff im just un familar what parts i need to get to have the set up im looking for. Im looking for total low end power for jumping waves and doing free style.

Alright keep in mind that I started with a 650 motor 5 years ago and have been slowly upgrading

K current motor.

I bought motor of ebay with the following 2 years ago and its ran great just want to get to the next level

701 62t cases 61x cylinders
factory double carbs
milled factory head
carbon tech reeds and reed spacers
lightened factory fly wheel
He said he advanced the timing by 4-5 on the flywheel
modified CDI by protec from a 650 ebox. I was told there is no rev limiter so it will work for a 701

Factory B pipe. Heres the tricky thing. The pipe was from my 650 and I port matched the manifold so it matches the 701 size. I was told that it is holding me back power wise and that i should buy the one for a 701???

I have dual cooling
running a 9-17 skat prop (dont know if its the right prop to be runnig)

Ok so that is my set up and like i said im looking for total low end

So what do you guys think I should do next if it was your boat?

I was thinking put the timing back to normal, buy an MSD advancer, and get a new factory pipe??

Summer is nearing here in michigan and I want to have a bad ass boat this year. Im already in the process of building a whole new hull and all that is left is paint as of now.
I want show and go

Thanks for all your help

Send your cylinders to Chuck at Team Scream for porting and get yourself a new prop. I hated my 9/17. I have a Concord 13/16 that I like pretty well.
Call Dave at Impros and buy whatever he suggests. He's the man. His new "hooker" prop might be a good option.
Those 2 things are the biggest bang for the buck in my opinion.
Beyond that, the options are endless.

Talk to Chuck(Supertune) about your pipe as well and see if there is anything he can do with it the manifold. I've never directly compared them so I don't know exactly what the diff. is.

There are three major areas that determine peak power, which equals peak thrust. Missing any one of these will kill thrust. Your cylinder must be ported to work at 7000 RPM. Your pipe must be working at 7000 RPM. And your pump must allow the engine to turn 7000 RPM. All the other stuff like carbs. compression, and ignition timing are more for response.

I'm would almost bet Impros will recommend the 9/15 hooker. Definately a worthy option for low end, or maybe even the 8/15, assuming you have a sn or rn sj.

Well I called over to Team Scream and talked to Rodney

So im sending my motor and exhaust to him.

There going to look over everything and let me know what they can do to get me some more bottom end.

Talked about doing their stinger mod
Boring out my B Pipe Head Pipe
ADA Head
some porting hopefully
and a new prop

hopefully all that will give me the power im looking for.

Buy the 5 mil stroker that is on here for ~1500!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sell your motor!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Buy a new B-pipe with the funds from your motor!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

BTW...that's just my .02. :bananapowerslide:

Thats a thought but I like the idea of not having to sell anything amnd have everything built to my spec.

IDK we will see how much this will cost me all with team scream

whats the power diff from one of team screams 771 motor with porting? Maybe I would be better off price wise to do the stroker
