i recently just bought a stock 701 motor to replace my 650, i had to change the base gasket, and the head gasket, but other then that ive installed my 650 flywheel and stator to my 61x and the stock 61x carb, now i have had a couple times where the engine ran away (dieseling) and i am wondering if it is beacuase i have taken out my choke pedal, and havent got the proper brass primer plugs for my carb yet. would those open holes be leaning out my engine causing it to run away? any input would be great thanks

carb gaskets have been replaced, the engine was sitting for 2yrs plus, i had to change the base gasket, do you think that the intake/ reed gaskets could be f-ed, is this something that occurs from crank seals?

Could be carb gasket, reed gaskets, or the base gasket. Could also be crank seals. You can pressure test the motor and use soap and water to find the leak pretty easily.

Could be a gap between the reed plate and gaskets as well. Pull the engine and do a leak down test. Prob about the only way you will find the issue.

ya, they pretty well covered it. this primer holes wont do anything to it running like that. anything above the lower flapper wont change much. making it run away will happen from there being an air leak somewhere under the lower flapper.

checked my intake gaskets between th reed cages, and they look pretty good, i inpsected both crank seals prety good and look fine, is there any way to tell if they are damaged, or could it be leakeing between top and bottom cases, anybody know where i can get stuff to do a leakdown test?

When your turning over the motor you the pulse line fitting feel if there is pressure and vac with a piece of paper over the fitting wile trying to start it with the spark plug wires off if not alot of pressure in spect rear seal first then remove fly wheel stator assy and look at front seal

Ps to leak down test go buy some pieces of thin rubber on intake grate and exhaust ports make ur self some block off plates then use a snap on leak down test on the bad boy:smoker: pressurize then she if she dropps pressure after some time ull know your headed in rite direction
