Without trying to offend anyone my 650sx hull suxs. Handles like #$#$ IMO... HAs anyone done or heard of improvement besides rideplates and intake grates that can make the sx hull handle more like a SJ hull?

I'm bringing X'y back
they have a conversion hull and engine combo still around.... It runs between $750 and $6000.

Its called a superjet.

That's just the way they handle, dude.
You can try tubbies or hull extentions if it porpoises, but aside from some major hull glassin', ride whatcha brung.

Pump wedge from an sxi pro will make it all the diff. Prob the closest any kawi will get to an sj as far as handeling is a 650sx with a pump wedge and the stock rideplate. I think a shorter pole/ turnplate would help too.

A shorter handlepole helps a lot. I built this one that's like 3" shorter and rotates the pivot point of the turn plate so it's more in line with the pole. The handling difference it made is the ONLY reason I still own this ski, if that gives you an idea how much it helped.

Thanks!
Think the shorter pole will be next. Looks like there may even be a few others on the board that know 1st hand about having a short poll.:Banane01:

Who built the handpole for you and how much did it cost?

wishihada,
What are your issues with the 650? The prob I had was the the nose woouldn't dig in at the start of the turn. The nose would also come up in the middle of the turn and the pump would come unhooked.

Suvas ski does handle quite nicely with that pole but it was kinda scary to spin around on the hood:bigeyes:
The boys just werent liking the idea. Anyway it does handle nicely but probably not as close to an SJ as you may be shooting for.

When I rode with a couple of guys on SJs and a SXR 2 things be came very obviouse. 1st that my ski handles like crap at low speeds (kneeling) I was exhausted trying to maintain control of my ski at a slow speed equal to that of my fellow sj and sxr riders who appeared to have no problems maintain control barely above idle thru the long no wake zone. 2ndly when we turned the corner and headed down the beach to the "riding spot" I was getting the crap beat out of me by the little chop and waves, while the SJs and SXR seemed to cut through the chop effortlessly. Could have been style/skill and or weight but I beleive it's mainly to do with the hull shape. Lastly one day I toke one of the modded SJ out for a flat water spin and it was almost funny how easy the ski turned, with the exception of the nearly inmovable handle pole "he has it very tight". If I thought about turning right the ski turned right. If i leaned fwd the ski would spin on its nose, if I leaned back it would pivot on the rear. My ski does not do that... As you lean/turn the sj it's a smooth progressive feeling. The ski starts to turn and lean evenly. On my ski the ski rolls or leans a few degrees then stops on a chin then the ski starts to turn, add more steering and the ski rolls/leans more then turns more. Does that make sence?

Thanks for help

It may never, but I' won't know till I try.

I built the pole myself with metal left over from a job the place I work for did, so all I really had to do was con my buddy who works at the machine shop next door into making me the mounting point bushings.

I thought that your skihandled pretty good the one time that I rode it. I really liked the pole that you have on it. Can't wait to ride it again this spring. . .
