650/x2 rev limiter removal

I need some guidence on removing the rev limiter on my x2 I was reading a few threads (on the other site) about how to take it off and couldent find anything.

Does anybody know if it is possible to wire a 550 coil in or to somehow bypass it without buying a dales cdi?
Thanks in advance for any help I can get.

im not aware of the mod

n no i dont believe the 550 will work

1986 X2 had no rev limiter if you can get a hold of some electronics

Dales is a very aggressive curve

I went and bought a 86 just for that reason and it seems like it bangs out at a lower rpm than the 91 cdi makes it do.
Is there any way I could have it wired wrong and that's what is causing it to bang out so early?

Oh yea and when it bangs the limiter it almost sounds like it's flooding, but when I put the 91 cdi on it sounds clean when it hits

the 86 cdi is a 3 wire. all the rest are 4 wire

You sure about that....there are 5 wire coils/CDI. I have minimal experience with the 86 coil, but I do know there are 4 wire and 5 wire Coil/cdis. Never heard of a 3 wire. Unless you dont count a ground as a wire.

If you call dale and ask him wether or not it is better to run the cdi or a total loss
He will tell you total loss is better for the amount of money they cost

A 93-95 X2 CDI has a retard curve and a 6900 rpm rev limit. If you can get a 650 to spin over 7000 try a 750-800 ignition. Otherwise you will over rev the engine without any performance benefit.
