SX/SXi/SXi Pro 650 SX with weird spark issue

I finally got my 650 together and of course it won't start. I've got 150 lbs compression in both cylinders and fuel is flowing. The problem is no spark. Well, when I pull a plug and ground it, I get a single random spark once in a while. I bought the motor used. I was told it was running but had low compression. I replaced the rings. I'm assuming stator and flywheel are good. I have two cdi boxes and both exhibit the exact same behavior. I find that weird. The stator has the correct resistance across the exciter coil. I'm not sure about testing the cdi. The wire colors in the manual don't match up exactly. There is supposed to be a black/white but mine only have a solid black. I need to sit down and seriously test those.

Questions

1. Does this seem like it could be a flywheel issue? I'm guessing maybe the magnets aren't great and don't trigger a spark.

2. What are the chances of two cdis failing like mine are?

3. Can a regulator/rectifier affect the spark?

4. Any other ideas?
