300/440/550 650 sx oil

hi running a 650sx been out on it 4 times when i clean it out there is always some oil residue in the engine bay is this normal ?
this model has a crankcase drain how do this work ?

Your crankcase drain is probably leaking (known issue and very common), best thing would be to block it off, you can buy a blockoff plate or you can just take off the drain assembly and jbweld the holes.

hi thx for reply if this is the problem how bad is this.
did a compression test today got 159 164.

compression numbers are good. The drain leaking doesn't affect your compression, it affects your crankcase pressure, which can lead to the engine running lean. It may not be a big enough leak to cause problems now, but if left alone it could cause a seized engine, I would block it off.

It could also be your return gas line. That was the problem with my X-2.
