A lot of this stuff is impossible to find now , Kawasaki made this out of a very hard plastic that is extremely brittle , I got to thinking if I can't find one can anyone else .

So I have the old cracked and broken part here with chunks missing , now none of that really matters as I can restore it but that is not the intention here , the intention is to make a mold so I can make new ones , fairly recently they came out with flexible epoxy resins , it does not have the hardness of regular resin and the part dries flexible, my thinking is this is a perfect application to try it out.

This part does not need to be flexible but it does need to be retain staples without cracking which the stock part does not do well , it was a crappy part that didn't age well and I would like in some small part start gibing back to the sport that I so dearly love, this is a start .

I only need this part to be dimensionally correct and good enough to pull a mold off of , that's it after that it goes in the trash bin as it is no longer needed.

I am building it on an old handlepole so that it will fit when I am done.

I have recently had to repair all the backing on a 750sx. I found Scotchweld urethane adhesive with a layer of glass works very well. It’s a little slow to wet the glass and it sets almost too fast. Great for repairs though. If you can’t find epoxy that is soft enough try urethane.

I have never messed with Urethane but I have a set of molds for battery spacers I am going to make out of urethane so I may give it a go , that flexible epoxy opens up a whole new word for me in making motorcycle and ATV fenders , a set of ATV fenders for a Suzuki King quad runs about $600 a set , I need three sets right now , it's defiantly worth a look.

I laid up a piece on the top just to hold it together , when that dried I removed the tape , now it's time to fill the crack. I mixed up a small amount of epoxy and cabosil and filled the crack , the I positioned it so gravity does all the work and then let it dry .
