650/X-2 650 or 550

the 650sx is sold...i wanted to look at too but it sold. the one in grand haven i called on, he said he would not start it for me since it wouldnt be in the water, even for 5 seconds...so that sounds fishy to me. ive been looking around also.

I emailed him and he said the hull is from 1981 but he doesn't know what year the motor is; do you know any way to tell?

I have a 550 and a x2 650. I really like the feel of the 550's but my x2 has more of a hole shot but I have riden my friends 650sx and it wasn't all that great. Me personally Would go with the 550. in colorado You can get very nice 550's for $600 and under. So I would say keep looking for a better deal if you don't want to spend alot of money but if you are dedicated to getting that one go for it sounds like a decent ski.

I would say hold out for a 650. In my opinion they look more modern, they ride better and just an over-all better ski. If you buy a 550, you are just going to sell it and upgrade to a bigger ski. They made the 650s from 87-94...so there are a ton out there. If you can hold out and find one from 92+, they have the rear exhaust which make a difference. I have owned 15 650sx stand up's since the mid 90's. I just now upgraded to a 750sx and a SJ. Just my opinion thats all. Also look at the last two numbers on the VIN..it will state the year of the ski...Good Luck
