650/X-2 650 anyone know whats wrong?

my 89 650sx runs like a bat outta hell for about 200 feet then sputters and i have to let off the gas and kneel on my ski and wait a few second then it rips for about another 200 feet then it sputters and i have to do the same thing again. what could that be?

I had a ski that did something like that and it turned out to be crank seals. It could also be the carb though so start there.

sounds to me like your carb isn't getting enough fuel. runs until it's empty, you slow down, it refills with gas.

Rebuild the fuel pump and carb and see how it helps. Or check your lines and make sure they are not being restricted in anyway

the white round check valve shown here at the bottom of the lines. also check the water separator and make sure its not full

ive had a problem with my 650 where it will run fine for a little. then i fall off, start it back up and it sputters all the way to the beach. i'd start it back up in a couple minutes and it would be fine again. Seems like everyone says carbs/fuel. So start at your tank and check everything (check valve, water bowl, the seal on the cap, the pickups etc.) then move over to carb and check everything (filter, lines, carb gaskets, etc.) I ended up getting 750 and rebuilding it after 650 lost compression.
