If you're talking about getting clearance for the crank, you don't have to get it machined, just test fit it, mark it where it doesn't fit (if it doesn't already), and get after it with a grinder....don't worry too much about perfection, just get it to fit and smooth out where you shaved it...but I think you're right you probably won't have to do it with a 4mil...

We clearanced for a 7mil stoker and we just got it to fit (redneck style, aka no science involved) and it worked like a champ....

I try for .030 thou clearance, not much work on a 4mm, depending on the rods that are on it, stock OEM rods more room, Hot Rods have less room as they're a little thicker on the big end for strength.
