61x weak spark issue

Have a little bit of a dilemma here and need to get my ski back on the water asap so any help and advice is greatly appreciated. I transplanted a healthy low hours 61x engine out of a 93 VXR pro into my RN superjet. Engine ran perfectly when I took it out last summer. Got it in my RN hull and it fired up but ran rough and didn't rev up smoothly. Thought it was a fuel issue so I went ahead and rebuilt the carb and inspected the reed valves while I was in there. Now I got it back together and it won't start. Can't see any spark on the plugs when I crank it over, and my spark checked light barely lights up as if it has a very weak spark. I took a good coil out of my other ski and tried it in the SJ ebox and still shows a weak spark. All that I have changed since I swapped the engine is a adjustable rev limit CDI from ocdsolutions. Can anyone think of what could possibly be causing a weak spark issue?

Do you have another CDI to try? If not I can send you one. I test them all before I ship them back so it's unlikely but troubleshooting 101 says to start by undoing the last change you made.

It's also possible that you didn't get a wire plugged up properly or perhaps pinched one when you put it back together. In this case, i would be checking all the grounds as well as the orange wire for connection issues.

@ocdsolutions I have another CDI here I can try. Thanks for the offer though I really appreciate it! I'm pretty sure I got all the wires hooked up correctly, however you sent me a 62t CDI with the jumper wire to connect to my 61x, which color wires am I supossed to connect the jumper to to be exact?

White wire with the red stripe on the CDI connects to the white wire coming from the stator. Jumper just changes gender so they match up.

Absolutely! I'll actually finish up modding the 61X one you sent in and get it out to you asap.

Don't throw that one out either, I'll send a return label with the replacement so I can get that one back for analysis.

I keep forgetting to come back and update this.

The CDI is definitely faulty. It sparks, it shifts the curve, it does everything else as well but it does it with a very weak spark.

I potted the replacement today so it should be ready to ship out to you by Friday.

@OCD Solutions yep, when I first Installed it, I was able to get my ski to fire up but it would sputter and was backfiring like crazy which led to to think it was a fuel issue. After rebuildnf the carb, it would t fire at all and I realized it was putting out a very faint spark. Thanks again! That's definitely faster than I was expecting!
