61x intake questions

I did a search and either nothing exists or I am stupid and missed it. I am waiting for reeds and have my intake mani sitting here. Usually if I can clean up castings or do some porting I will do it while waiting on parts. The 61x mani is not perfectly circular and has either a bad casting flaw or is there for a reason. The pics will show what I mean, so is this intentional or bad casting that I can clean up? I am guessing there is a reason behind this, just not sure as my porting knowledge pertains to import cars.

I'm guessing you're talking about that bump on the inboard side... Pretty sure I took that out on mine and my ski rips. Not sure as to the actual reason for it though.

I cleaned up the castings and port matched it. Chucky talked about filling areas before.
