61x FP manifold on 62t cylinder- drilling manifold vs. Timeserts/Helicoils

I have seen pros and cons for both. This is my first experience with this and I need a little insight. I can order the same Timeserts that come from FP at Fastenal; but I am not sure how long they will take to get here. So I was looking at the Helicoil type inserts. If i use these, can I just screw in the one sized for a M10 hole and screw the M8 bolt into it? Or do I have to tap the hole for the insert? I read lots of posts where people say to simply put the helicoil in; but the info for them says you have to use their tap.

So why not drill the manifold? I read some say they have leaking issues and others with none.

At this point I am leaning towards drilling the manifold out.

As far as I can tell FP modifies their 61X manifold by drilling the holes and cutting the port.

And I did a little more research and it looks like I would have to use two 8mm bolts (with inserts) on the top center holes of the manifold even if I had the proper 62t manifold. So just drilling out the holes wont make it fit.

Use the heli-coil inserts for the bolt holes and fill the cylinder's exhaust port roof with ultra high temp stainless epoxy so you can keep your existing B-pipe exhaust manifold unmodified.

I just simply screwed helicoils in the hole..didn't use any type of loctite or anything. This manifold has been off and on 2 times now and it has held torque just fine both times.

The helicoils were cheap and worked perfectly.

Helicoils or Timesert? I believe TimeSert will screw right into the M10 X 1.25 hole, will the Helicoil do the same or do you have to drill and tap? also, do you guys use stainless or carbon steel insert.
Thanks,

I've done it with helicoils, screw right into the stock hole. I used locktite on the helicoils but not on the 8mm bolts with the idea that I want the helicoils to stay in the hole and not come back out with the bolts, but you would probably be fine with no locktite.

What epoxy did you use and how long has it lasted? I'm surprised there is anything that holds up to exhaust heat but that could be a handy thing to know about.
