FX-1 61X Dasa 850

Just got it in the water and running decent this weekend. It runs very well so far and has a nice powerband (very smooth). It feels very similar to my 61x-scream engine as far as power delivery and smoothness.

As far as a direct comparison, I'm afraid it's apples and oranges. My 61-xscream engine is spinning a Kawi 140mm prop/pump and the Dasa is spinning a Kawi 148mm prop/pump. I don't think it would be fair to attempt a direct comparison, but I will say they both pull very nicely.

When I first dropped it in, it was WAY over propped and ran like a dog. I dropped the pitch from 14/19 to 11/17 and it woke right up and runs sweet. The 14/19 seemed too much for my ss865 62T dual carb motor as well, but I guess that means the 62T based engine has a little more oomph since it could at least spin it!

From an assembly point of view, there's pros and cons to both setups (from my lense). I really like the fact that Dasa designed their top end to run o-rings for the head and not need to be glued together with 1211. The scream engines powervalve setup seem to be far better thought out and doesn't require modification of the manifold and headpipe....so, I'd call it a wash.

All in all, they're both pretty damn schweet!
