I have a 61x cylinder that I am going to get bored and honed but it already has some machining work done to it. Basicaly a cleanup port and the base where it meets the case has been milled. What is the deck height supposed to be and what problems would I run into if its too low? thanx

If it's too low, you may run into issues with your squish clearance, especially if using a shaved stock head.

Don't double gaskets!!!!!!!!

the conversion of wax's metric is 4.693"

here is what you do. Using a regular base gasket, assmble the top end. rotate #1 to TDC. check if it's coming thru the top of the cyl. if not. bolt on the head. taking a piece of soft .075 solder. do a squish test. measure your clearance. I would expect it to be in the neigherhood of .045-.055"
with a pro-tec rec head. if it tighter. then you need to correct the situation with thick base gasket.
base gaskets are avail in .010, .020, .030, .040 & .060. Never double base gaskets. An air leak is a quick way to loose a motor.

need more help? Let me know

Thanks Paul...a thicker base gasket, not double, is what I meant, of course.
