Hi all. I'm putting together a motor for temporary use in my squarenose. While it's apart, I'd like to port the cases. Does anyone have any pictures, tips, advice, god-like knowledge, etc. etc. ?
Thanks

Might want to search this site or the other site and also look under topics such as "sport port" The reason you aren't getting any responses is because it's already been covered multiple times.

Actually there is very little info on porting a 61X case. The sport port only covers the clyinder.

:banghead:

the case is the bottom, where the carbs bolt on, and the crank lives.

the CYLINDERS are what the sport port template addresses.

Don't even waste the thought or time on them...Concentrate on your 62T cases for porting!

so there is absolutely NO improvement to be had by messing with a 61x case?

lets say I have the grinder, and the cases..

and it wont cost anything...

there is abslultely NO need to mess with them?

I wonder why some of the big engine builders port them then?

must be just to make an easy buck off of people that dont know better huh?

I think Chuckie may be implying that the time & money spent vs. the performance gained doesn't make it worth while.

amen. in my humble opinion, i FIRMLY believe 61x crankcase based motors are enough to launch blasters and superjets into orbit in the surf.. how can you not love tons of compression, advanced timing, and a big fat carb!!!

the beauty of those motors is you can beat the piss out of them all year long and not feel a drop of guilt!!! i never had mine fail on me, other than my helicoils come apart and caused my manifold to back out of the cylinder.. nothing to do with the cases..
I'm thinking that big 61x motor I got from crackrock would love some case porting. Maybe the reed cages are the limiting factor though...

my point, it doesnt cost any money to port the cases, just time, and what the hell else am I going to do in my garage all winter long?

the guy was asking for info, and this isnt the firt time he has asked, or I have, or several other folks have asked.

is ANYTHING we do to this things really WORTH the time or money?

other than buy a lamey?

ask runnaway he had a case ported 61X built by Head Ind. who firmly believes if your looking for bottom end look at the ported 61X cases. Better yet talk to Kieth Head (I think thats his name) he is the 61X king

i compared my x motor to keiths t motor, and mine hits harder and sooner.
Identical setups. Enhancers, bpipes etc etc. Same cylinder porting, same carb mod. I love my x, i'll never get rid of it.
