61x Backfires and won't run

Hey guys- I've got a stock 61x that refuses to run and backfires- a lot. Mostly out the tail pipe, but some through the carb too. I've rebuilt the carb, confirmed pop-off pressure, adjusted the screws back to factory settings, replaced ignition and pulse coils with new ones, and replaced the CDI with a new one. What could be wrong? Bad reeds? The waterbox had been blown up by the previous owner, and I swapped it out too.

No, I checked the timing when I swapped those coils. The flywheel key was good too.

I would check the reeds as well as compression.

Compression was 140/140. I will check the Reeds.
