Surfriding 61x/62t vs 62t/62t performance questions

looking at building a new motor to put into my surf ski, i know everyone has great results with bigbore 61x cylinders on 62t cases, i just found a good deal on a 62t motor out of a raider. motor will be ported probably big bore,b pipe and some sort of aftermarket ignition, i want a good reliable beater motor with some grunt aswell. whats the best all around combo and difference between the two (im guessing porting on sleeves) thanks

The porting on the 61x is better for bottom end snap, there are quite a few threads on this subject, just search it
 
get a 62T bottom end and a 61X cylinder.

you for sure want the snap of the 61X.
Especially if your going to pay big money to have it big bored, ported, all the nine yards, why throw money into something...
its like the same basis of making an SXR into a freestyle ski... can you try.. sure.. will it wake it up, of course, but go buy a damn superjet...
same pricincipal... dont throw money into something that isnt going to be the best for your goals.

sounds good just found out the motors a 96 61x anyway, another question also, is thebolt pattern of a 61x engine (bottom end) the same as a 62t as far as bedplate dimensions and locations go. id like to rip the top end off this and use it as a mock up motor
