so last night finally got my bottom emd swap dropped and running...

anyone else running the same setup?

ITS tight in there now for sure...the SJ gas tank and metal box not helping that!

had to do a RE LO on the batt box holder...

footholds and paint turf still to go...!

u like the single better?

why exactly.. feel more bottom end?

im still wondering what to do carb set up wise...i have 38s 44s and a few single 46mm...

i could go single? i have seen the single plates around..
the 62 bottom has much better airflow so i assume jetted correctly for max gas to match could really crank..

ur thoughts would be of great help bro...
what jets u running in single?

thanx in advance...

I do like the single a little better for a few reasons. #1, ease of tuning. 2, less fuel consumption = more smiles per hour, lol! (gas ain't getting any cheaper!). I know by converting to these cases, my bottom end increased with the single carb, and with the duals I couldn't justify the minimal (in my eyes) increase. My set up is pretty simple, 62T cases, 61X cylinder, Ocean Pro Head yielding about 195# compression, Mild port work (mostly clean-up & matching the sleeves), and a factory B pipe, and a couple of other little odds & ends. There are WAY more powerful set ups out there, but I'm real happy with what I have. It's a rock solid super dependable set up that has never left me stranded in the surf. As for jetting specs, I'm pretty sure I'm running what Factory pipe suggested with some minor high & low speed adjustments on the screws. Hope this helps you. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me.

I you ever wondered what the difference really is, I did a case/carb swap last year and got some good test results. First with a stock 61X case/carb then to a stock 760 case/carb. Only the cases and carbs were changed, the cylinder, pipe, and pump were left alone. I spent some time with a gps and tach on glass before and after the change and had identical weather conditions. The 61X case with its single 44 leaned to peak turned 6960 at 47 mph. The 760 cases and carbs leaned to peak would turn 60 more rpm and still went 47mph. The pipe came on faster and stronger with the 62T cases and dual 44s over the 61X case/single 44. The dual 44s had to be fourcycling more at part throttle and burned 15- 20% more fuel overall. The 61X case/carb provided a cleaner running and more economical ski with a little less response compared to the 62T/dual 44 setup. Strangely, top speed remained the same.
I thought that the point of running 62 cases was dual carbs. Can someone enlighten me please?

I swapped out my 61X bottom due to the fact the 62T bottom flows more air...thats how i understood it anyway...so in the future when i do some mild port work im then working with from a better starting point....i am only interested in low end to mid range speed...top end power/speed not really a concern...
so with more air flow possible the dual carb setup only made sence to me...but i hear from some that have ran both that a big single jetting pretty big will give great low end snap...

thanx all for your thoughts here...

1. How often do you tune your carbs?
2. Less fuel consumption = less power.

I haven't had to touch my carb adjustments in years, kinda like Ron Popiel with his "show time rotisserie oven", just set it & forget it, lol! I do agree that less fuel consumption = less power, but it's an FX-1, not a full blown race ski. I built it for nice, crisp bottom end snap. Would I like more? Of course I would, but my wallet would hate me for it.
