86 550 getting a spark through the wires but its weak. I can hold it on my hand and barely feel it. What could be the problem. I thought it was just the spark plug boots but even with those off and just a bare wire hanging out its a weak spark. ????? What do I do? New coil maybe? Everything seems to be grounded but Im not totally sure

Check your stator over thoroughly. If it's not your stator, it's your coil.

I was having a similar problem earlier this year. I replaced the plugs with non-resistor B7ES's and took the plug caps off the wire, put a little dielectric grease on the wire end, put them back on and used tie wraps to secure the caps to the wires. I also put a little dielectric grease on the tip of the spark plug. Works much better but as it turned out weak spark was not the reason I had hard starting and horrible loading at low throttle.
