300/440/550 550 Question

I was looking for parts for my ski and found a bored nozzle and a wet wolf freestyle cone and was was considering buying both but heard that they didnt work well together. Any one else try these together or know which one would be better performance

ive found that, on a superjet, a bored nozzle is better than a cone. ive never tried a cone on a 550. i know...... this may not help you much. :dunno:

If you do both, and don't dial in your impeller (get a higher pitch), your top end speed will be affected and you might find the ski cavitating badly...

I bored my OEM nozzle out to 68mm and a quite happy with the difference (I have a straight 15.0 Skat Trak impeller installed too).

Good luck,

thanks, i decided just to go with the bored nozzle

Cool. You can always try the freestyle cone later (or make your own as an experiment).

How much do you weigh & what impeller pitch do you currently have?

I'm over 200# so I got the straight 15.0... a smaller rider can get away with a 15.5. If I had the opportunity, I'd personally try to find a 13/18 variable pitch impeller (average is 15.5)...

weigh about 140...riding the stock one lol just bought a new one, jetlyne prop 17p...dont know if that helps, im a noob, dont know much more than the basics

Being a lighter rider, you might actually be able to get away with the higher pitched impeller. Especially with a bored nozzle.

Go to GroupK.com and read anything you can find on the 550, plus find the 440/550 Bible thread over on PWCToday.com. You'll find lots of good info (and have to decide for yourself which ways you'll want to go eventually).

I like the cone on a stock or mildly modified boat.
However when more power and RPMS are involved a bigger nozzle seems to work well when pitch changes are made, Expecialy if your over 160lbs.
Dont forget
Have FUN!
