550 pistons

The pistons on a non reed kawi 550 have two small holes near the top. When installing these, do the holes face the exhaust or carb side? What do they do as well?

The arrow points toward the exhaust and the pinned side of the piston is the intake side if that helps ya any.

Can't find any arrows on these pistons. They look exactly the same on both sides with the exception of two small hole near the top on one side.

'Both sides'? A piston's only got 3 sides: top, round side, and bottom.

The arrow should be stamped on the top. Maybe covered by deposits?
