300/440/550 550 overhaul/rebuild.

Hey guys this is what i've got myself into and progress thus far. I know there are some 550 guys out there that still appreciate the vintage stuff. In my area Ski's are hard to come by. This is my second 550 and the first one Iv ever tried to make my own.

So i guess im not finished yet but its icy here already so I have to wait until spring when the cars can be left outside the garage.

So the engine you see there I put together has a High compression head ( I think ). SBN 44. Coffman Half pipe. And some paint to make everything look faster. I also ported the engine to some of the specs I saw on the Porting 101 thread. I guess I will see how that works. Im only a recreational rider sort of new at the sport. I like to cruise around the local islands, its all fun!

So Im considering putting a layer of carbon fibre on the bottom. Im still making a decision as to what kind of turf and colour to put on.

Love the look. Great looking engine. I hope to get a pipe like that for my reed engine. Let us know how the port job goes.
There are diffenantly alot of turf options to choose from. I just did a pink and black diamond turf job on my wifes ski.
