550 Flatdeck build, Now with 701 Power

This is sweet... I have 3 550 hulls and a 650 hull that are spares... Just no time to take on a project like this.

I would love to ride that thing!!

Wow I was surprised how much it weighed. I was expecting it to be lighter just from picking it up. Put it on the scale and it weighs 92 lbs!! The impeller shaft, coupler, coupler housing, steering cable and exhaust outlet are still all on it. I guess there is a lot of resin and glass on the tray. The hood pole and pole bracket weighed an additional 22 lbs.

Nice work.

That is one 550 I would actually want to ride! Now to get a 800 motor in there...

My biggest complaint is how narrow the tray is.

An 800 would be perfect...maybe a 650/750 conversion will come eventually.

I would love to ride that thing!!

Hopefully I'll make it out to the first hothole ride this year. I'll be sure to bring it. So if any one from MI wants to try it out they are more then welcome to. If not at hothole maybe some other rides in MI this year.

It may be 92lbs but that's pretty good and less than a 750 or SJ. My SJ weighed in at around 105 lbs without turf, paint, or anything else for that matter.
Also for hood, pole, and bracket to only weigh 22lbs together is really good! My 750 and SJ hood are both around 15 lbs. Pole and bracket probably weigh another 10-15 but not sure on those.

My hull weighed at 80 lbs even with absolutely nothing on it, no hood, no pole, no brackets, nothing. Thats with a perfectly dry fresh foam job and the 650 pump cavity. 92 is nothing to be ashamed of.

Get a 14.5 or a 15. Skat over others. Dont buy a wetwolf cone. Then bore the nozzle 2mm at 2*

Sounds good I'll definitely keep my eyes out for one. If any one has one for sale let me know, as I would rather buy used and save. I know there cheap (thats why I'm leary of them) but are the Jetlyne ones absolute junk??

Any ways after a long weekend building a paint booth and painting it is now ready to be wet sanded, wheeled out and put back together. I really couldn't be happier with the results for my first paint job. There is a just a little bit of dust here and there and a couple very minor runs in the clear, but all that stuff should be able to be sanded out and looking great. Now I just need to decide on some graphics.

After a 2 week break in AZ, I am back to finishing the project. The past couple days I got it wet sanded then wheeled the paint out. Started putting some odds and ends back together. Drilled, taped and installed the inserts for the foot straps into the plates I glassed into the deck. Then I turfed the deck...that was a pain for my first time, I'm glad I had an extra set of hands! Should have it all back together here in the next few days.
