The tray area was still close to the surface, but submerged. I don't *think that it would of sunk to the bottom, seemed to just kind of float there.

Upgrading to 701 Power

Finally got back around to the 550 that's been sitting for so long. I ordered up the conversion kit from Rhaas to drop a 701 in the 550 hull. The kit was great quality and a breeze to install. Basically All that I had to do was cut the batter box as the instructions show to allow the conversion plates to sit where they need to and bolt everything in. Before I installed the kit I cleaned the engine bay and painted it with appliance epoxy paint. It looks like I'll be able to squeeze a b pipe in there as well!

Any recommendations for a pump/prop set up? Right now I am going to be running the stock pump but hopefully in the future swap that out with something a whole lot bigger. What did the old race skis use for pumps?

Just a quick update: I finally got around to setting up the TL for my SJ so I was able to use the flywheel and ebox from it. I bought a starter, bendix and flywheel cover so I was able to get those installed. Now all I need to do is hook up the start /top switch, shim the engine (get engine bolts), figure out a water box and put a gas tank in.
