300/440/550 550/650 questions

After a year of riding a stock 550, which I know have hanging on my beadroom wall, I have decided that I am doing a 550/650 over the winter with a 440 hull and just had a few questions. First is that my hull does not have sponsons and I was wondering if I could use these: http://www.adaracing.com/personal-watercraft/sponsons-kawasaki-ultra-150/kuspn even though they are for a couch, or will not having sponsons not make much of a difference? Could I use a 44mm BN carb on a 650sx manifold? I do have access to a full machine shop. And is there a large difference reliability wise between the Rock County Jet Ski conversion plate and the JRE conversion plate?
Thanks, and for anyone that's interested I do have a complete and running js550 engine for sale, pm for details.

I dont think the 44 bn will work on the 650 manifold. I would try and run a 44sbn, you will benefit from it greatly. Also on the sponsons, you dont need them at all. I had a 550 with them and a 440 with out them and I didn't feel any difference. I would save the money for sbn

The RCJS and JRE conversion plates are both great. You will need to buy an aftermarket intake manifold. I wouldn't run a bn44. They tend to have a lot of problems. The sbn is a much better carb. You can check out my 550/650 in the my skis section. There are also a ton of 650 conversion builds on pwctoday.com that can help you

O.K. I won't get the BN then, thanks. I've read just about every 550/650 thread there is, and helped a friend do one last summer, I'm just trying to do go the cheap route for now. I'm going to start a build thread tomorrow, one last thing, anyone know where to get a cheap SBN or 650 voltage regulator?

Don't bother with sponsons. I would highly suggest tubbies. It will handle better with more weight from the 650, but tubbies would make it handle a ton better. I like waterfly and sjlouies tubbies the best on a js hull.
