how far has any one traveled on an SJ? The river between here and the lake is unusually full so it would be possible to ride all the way to the lake I think. We would be going with the current, but I have no idea how fast the flow is, maybe 5 miles and hour or something.

how much fuel would it take? any idea?

It's possible. Just don't start the ski and go with the current. Should take about 11 hours.

If you do this, let me know how much fuel you did use.

There's a little trip organised every year that many couches make. It's about 50 miles and I wouldn't mind trying it.

A carbed XPL or GPR won't make it on a single tank. A 4-stroke would make the round trip easily.

ive gone between 35-40 miles on a tank before half with current and half against current...i know how many because i mapped it out. this was on ported, piped, 701 with 38's. I bet if you were running where the ski runs effiently you could do 45 miles down current but i think 55 would be pushing it. put a 2 gallon can in the tray with you and you could do it.

all I have is a b pipe. I have a little 2 gallon tank I might be able to stick in the tray. but you think 25-30 miles would be double on one tank? then I can just have the fuel meet us at a halfway point.

So, you'll have about 6.5 gallons with the extra tank... think 5 mpg... down the river... should make it with one fuel stop no problem.
