300/440/550 440 upgrades

So I'm new to modding ski this will be my first I bought a supper clean 440 and decided I want to mod this one
It has some am parts : open wc intake grate , skat 5.5 or 55 impeller
i want as much bottom end as possible I have a Kerker pipe I could put on it but have never heard good or bad about them
And what is porting???????????
i need an oversized tank if anyone has one

I would start by putting a 550 motor in it. It will bolt right in with no modification. If you find one out of a 91 or newer it should be a reed motor which will be a better platform. Porting will do wonders for waking up a ski if you have lots of funds to have it done right. The impeller that you have should be good for bottom end. A cheap upgrade would be having your head milled. You can shave .050 off the head aloong with a thinner copper head gasket and it will boost compression a bunch. There are alot of other things you can do,... just depends on how much you want to spend on it.
