38 SBN's....Are they all the same ??

Is there any difference amongst the various 38 SBN carbs out there?? Castings...internal passages...etc,etc. If so...what are they?? I'm looking to set up an old skool Kaw 550 motor using an Ocean Pro aluminum race cylinder/head and twin 38 side draft intake. Is there any company out there that mods 38 SBN's?? I talked to Ed at Full Spectrum about it and he said they haven't ever done anything w/the 38's but it's not out of the question. Any info is greatly appreciated.:hail:

Use aftermarket mikuni's right out of the box! Most application OEM carbs have jetting formats that can and will be hard to tune on other motor set-ups! (I.E. throttle valve #, internal drilled circuits are set-up for fuel economy and can make jetting very hard especially without very restrictive air cleaners)

maico, i have some good polaris 38's here if you want to try them. i too have wondered how they'd work.

100.00 + s&h for a pair. you will need an external fuel pump though.

ok......I have a similar carb question....not to hijack, but contribute. I bought a set of mikuni 44sbns that came off of a kawi 750. What would it take to run these on my 62t motor? Are there differences? I would imagine main, pilot, and popoff would be different...anything else...?
thanks

kawi never had a SBN 44 stock on a 750, so those are probably an aftermarket carb. you would just need to rejet for your application.

The carb I offer to you in the other tread you had is what you are looking for
set for primer new in the box $85 each and both have the fuel pump so you will need to run one fuel line for each no restritor needed, in the return line.
many have used my carb and they are realy good.

What I was asking if Novi's internals (or buckshot or Red Tops) for a Yamaha are the same as Kawasaki or sea doo... the only difference between a 44mm sea doo and 44mm Kawi is the orientation. (Inline vs side by side like).
