No water I been through all things electrical. I homed out the stator and it's to specs that I have found on pwctoday. I have replaced coil and stop relay. New Yamaha kill switch. Only the Cdi igniter or the voltage rectifier left.

Have you tested the igniter? You can ohm out the secondary circuit on these btw. Check for continuity between the spark plug boot & ground.

Yes done. It tests fine. That is the problem. I have tested everything I have found info on and it test fine. It sparks two, three times and then cuts out spark all together and then after a few more cranks it will give one or two more sparks. The problem is intermittent and so it tests out fine. I have been looking at msd universal single cylinder ignition. It cost more than I paid for the ski but it sure would be cool to setup the motor with one. I am a geek that way.

Old thread but d-roc did you ever find out the problem

I found the problem to be that the engine is not a Yamaha. I may swap in a 701 if I don't get the Kawi running. I suspect the 2nd used stator I got is no good as well.
I tried two stators two electrical boxes, three coils. Spark plugs, but only one starter motor that I "tuned up". I should try a good starter on it to rule it out. I do also have a nice complete 62t motor sitting around too though...
I just haven't been interested in working on it. I should look for some more parts to test on it because it would be cool to get it running.

I just picked up one in a package deal that I'm having same problem with. I've seen some cases where the stator wires are rubbing the flywheel. Idk if I will even keep mine or not for a ski for other people to ride. I got rid of a 61x I had over the summer wished I would've kept it nownow
