World Champion titles serve to reward a racer for being the best that year. However, jetski racing has suffered a massive dilution of title prestige in recent times. Every year there are more and more classes and with them more and more World Titles being awarded. Between Aquabike, King's Cup, World Finals and others, there are more than 50 new World Champions being crowned each year! With so many classes tacked on World Title races are sometimes as small as 3 racers. Additionally, due to competing organizations, most of the racers don't compete at each world competition.


This is in starch contrast to other types of racing, where being a World Champion is something very clearly defined and very rare.


With that in mind -- who is the best jetski racer of 2012 ?


To take personal opinion, politics, vote fraud and other influences out of the calculation, XJETSKI.com set out to create exactly that -- a calculation to decide who is the best racer in the world this year. A calculation based on all the results this year, not which country a racer is from, or which organization he/she belongs to.

Decent thought but many sports, including moto x which closely parallels ours, have multiple "world champs" in a variety of organizations ( AMA, FIM etc..). It really means more champion of that series than of "the world". And for tht matter its really only the IJSBA at the world finals that claims the world champ status.

So i guess i'm wondering what this actually does prove/accomplish? We can already track results on the site, why issue the arbitrary title? If just for fun like a fantasy leauge then that' cool.

I think this proves that fist pumps are what WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS are built on!!!

Based on current standings, I'm pretty sure their 'calculations' have some fundamental flaws. How can someone be almost double everyone else if it truly compares everyone on a level playing field?

so the op is complaining about multi titles diluting the meaning of the title? so his solution is to further dilute it with another title. can someone please link this to swapmeets "REALLY?!" thread?
