I just took delivery of my new EME Q8 on Friday morning and I thought I would throw some pictures up to document the build. I will be running it on with a Polaris platform motor and the 145 Skat Mag. I will update this with more detial when I get some time.

So far so good....

Wow, sick color scheme! Can't wait to hear how you like it. If it rides anything like the signature EME, it will be great. Is it me or are a lot of people building killer skis on here lately?

This hull is small....really small. Should be interesting because not only can I reach both the front and the back of the ski with my arms stretched out....I will also weight about the same as the ski with everthing in it. It looks like a skateboard to me right now, more than likely because I have been riding an sxr.

Eric has designed a new rideplate that not only is a longer plate...it also extends the hull a couple inches. The motor is moved forward 1.25 inches to compensate for my overeating problem.

So far everything has worked out quite well and I am surprised at how easily things have gone together. Thankfully, I have had my brothers help getting everything mocked up and mounted. The fuel tank is a near perfect fit as you can see....and since I am running the stock Polaris ignition he had to get a bit creative on how and where to mount it in order to allow enough room for the motor and headpipe. I am running a B-pipe short chamber which I was quite surprised to see actually fits.

So far Eric has been great help and I cant let that go unnoticed. I was on a bit of a tight time schedule and he offered to do a bunch of the setup work for me. He basically sent me a hull with my pump already in it and pump shoe modified and glued. He also mocked up a motor and got the drive shaft aligned and my composite bedplate drilled and aligned. I still cannot believe that the pipe, waterbox and tank actually fit in this thing.

I have been on a few Q8's and my observation is that the polaris platform is very well balanced. Eric has the position of that motor spot on. I rode the Q8 with a sock kawi motor and it was too nose light and twitchy when compared to his 1000.

Awesome setup! Maybe I over looked it, will you be in Daytona?

That PowerFactor / Polaris setup is really proving itself... might have to jump on that band wagon some day...

OK so I have been really busy with other things here and not keeping this build thread going. Here are some pics of the polaris motor with a stock ignition. B Pipe. 2.9gal tank. and xmetal water box. Its tighter than a nats a$$.

What are the specs on the motor? Sweet setup!!

It's an 85mm stock stroke Polaris with Novis. Randy at Watcon did all the work: porting, head work, carb and intake setup. My brother ran this in his Octane and it runs very strong. The stock Polaris setups gain a ton of power simply by porting them and by changing the intake setup and carbs. I am running it on the stock Ignition so im giving up a good amount of power running the heavy stock flywheel but I need the reliability it affords.

I'm most interested to see how much stronger this feels with the lighter hull. I dont know for sure yet but I have to imagine its almost 100lbs lighter overall. I also think that going from the stock 140mm mag in the Octane to my 145mm Kawi setup is going to make a big difference.

Compared to my 927cc 66e this motor is very comparable power wise and def a bit smoother but again, dropping the weight will prob make the Polaris feel a whole heck of a lot stronger.

Assuming I make it Daytona (which I hope), I am planning to go to one of the inland spots one morning with Eric and I would be happy to let a couple people take it for a ride.
