When in doubt, gas it!
BNG or not I am Happy to see it is still for sale. Business 101 don’t price yourself out of the market. The amount of money tied up on new molds new motor anything they would have to sell a lot of units before recapping their money then start to think about a profit. If it costs more to build, market and distribute something then the market will bear it isn’t advantageous to pursue the endeavor. Also once you find a profitable formula, product etc ride it for as long as it remains profitable. The molds, tooling etc for the SJ probably took a couple years to recap the initial investment then the line became profitable, now they maximize the profitability of the line. So even if they sell half as many units as they did per year in the first 4 years their profit is still greater and that reflects the bottom line. Let’s face it that is why they are in business, to make money. I don’t anticipate a change beyond graphics until Yamaha is forced to change in one way or another. And again isn’t the EPA legislation written in such a manner that you can continue to sell 2 stroke as long as they were manufactured before a specific date..thought read that someplace. The EPA legislation in one form or another will force the redesign or death of the superjet...which do you think it will be is the real question? I look at the 10th year of the round nose as ten years of interchangeable spare parts to keep them running for another 20 years.

Much agreed.

However, the least they could do is stick a decent handlepole spring in it from the factory.

The very least...

they already have the 760 engines built. at the MOST they might design an updated stock exhaust to get a little more outta the motor at the same time. it would be a cake walk for them to put a 760 or 800 in the hull. heck, they could keep building the 701s and offer a limited build of 800 motor in the same hull, and i am sure they would sell every one of the things they could build. it would be nice to show up on the line against an SXR with at least an equal motor!!!!!!!!

I like the black and yellow tho

the 760 would require a new exhaust as well as a new head
the cooling on the 760 head is different than the 701
and so it would be a new casting

the 701 exhuast is not safe on the 760 so they would have to develop a whole new exhaust
i think you will see this engine in the 2008 new hull as well

why not? They could call it the Super Duper jet. Comes stock with a usable intake grate, D-cut rideplate, 800PV engine, REV footholds, and diamon hydroturf. That would be sweet!

I'd be happy with even just a stainless prop. SOMETHING. I mean, throw us a bone for cryin' out loud.

The MSRP for the SuperJet is $500 more than the SXR (brand new a few years ago).

Sure I understand the business aspect of things, but using the same tooling for 10 years and selling it with an MSRP $500 more than the competitor's brand spanking new design is kind of insulting.

Dirtbikes come out every year with at least a LITTLE bit of change/improvement in something, not necessarily a radical change.

Sure, I'm happy the SJ is still available in a limited market, but the "Bold New Graphic" jokes were old 5 years ago........ :bs2:
