Other 2007 rmz 250

eva2y8u4.jpg

I got a little problem that could cost a lot of money.

The intake camshaft housing cracked around where the valve cover screws into and it is stripped.

Does anyone have one?

I know that they are mated to each head but I don't really want to pay $500+ for a head when mine is perfect.

2007-2009 are all the same.

If anyone has a complete head for cheap I would consider that option to.
Thanks

you need a new one anyways..dosnt matter how broken it is..if its broken its broken...look for a head that dropped a valve the cover should be usable..

Yea.
All I can find are new heads or slightly used that they still want a lot for.

I'm gonna check with my machine shop to see if they can weld it completely up and then re tap it.

Can you send pics of the cover off of your 450 and take some measurements for me?

It could possibly work and if so I would like to get it from you.

it looks exactally like the one in your pic..ill measure it for you...im sure the cams are the same diameter from 250-450 so it should be fine..im bet only the lobes are different and that dosnt matter...

I've done a similar thing on my yz250f. For whatever reason when I bought my bike in 1000 pieces the head was missing a cam caps. Had to grind on it. When the factory cuts those heads they cut the cam caps with that particular head. So each head has the cam caps cut differently. I wasn't happy about it. But it worked until my crank blew apart.

Btw it looks like you over torqued your valve cover. Just a guess. May have been something else, just be careful tightening the valve cover

I appreciate it.
Let me know what the measurements are and hopefully we can work something out.

40.2mm +/- on the outside biggest part the bearing rides on...
20.2mm on the small side...

it should be the same..you will have to sand the smaller side the cam rides on..the bearing side dosnt matter/should all be the same

i just colored it with a sharpie then bolted it down (gotta torque it) then spun the cam..it will wear the sharpie off where its rubbing then sanded with some 220 on a wood dowel..use WD40 to lube it...mine has about 5hrs on it and its working fine..people told me it couldnt be done but so far so good...

20$ and its yours
