Hi All,

Please know that i am new to this so take it easy on me.....

I recently purchased a 2005 SJ and looking to get it ready to do some freestyle.

Currently i have the worxs 201 grate installed

I need to install the following itmes -
MSD enhance
Bilge Pump
0 Degree Bars
UMI Steering system

My question for all you gurus out their is what to do next; i've been pondering the factory b limited pipe but wasn't sure i wanted to spend $750ish (how difficult it is to rejet the carbs)?. Also any suggestions on a prop? Don't have a lot of money to dump into it right now but would atleast like to get some footholds installed before spring.

Hello!

I think many would suggest buying a pipe next. You will get great gains in power out of a pipe.
Re-jetting the carburetors is relatively easy if you're comfortable with a wrench.
You'll need to take both carburetors off the engine and open them up.
It's really not too difficult.

As for impellers, I have personally had great experience with a Skat-Trak Swirl (or Freeride Swirl) 13/16 or 12/15. The Impros Hooker impeller also seems popular.
You might give these guys : www.impros.com a ring. They should give you a pretty good idea what to run for an impeller.
A decent new impeller will cost you $250 or so. You could always watch this forum and PWCToday for good deals on a used impeller.

Footholds are a great idea, but do require some work and materials. If you're looking for a good deal here, WaterDawgKustomz sells fairly inexpensive footholds. However, they also require quite a bit more work than many other footholds.

what does 13/16 or 12/15 indicate as far as impellers go?

also, i can keep the stock carbs just need to rejet them correct?

The numbers for impellers indicate the pitch of the impeller blades.
The first number is for the starting (close to the hub) angle of the blades, while the second number is for the blade angle closer to the outside.
Think of it as different gearing numbers if it were a transmission.
A higher powered motor can handle higher pitches. This isn't a general rule, as pitch numbers vary between different manufacturers and even between different models from one manufacturer.
Best advice I can give you on this is to talk to Impros, or Jetworks

As for carbs, your stock carbs are fine. You will just need to rejet them.

You can get these things used however b-pipes don't last long in the "for sale" threads. I would call Impros for the prop and if money is tight mill your stock head instead of buying an aftermarket head.

Both Bill and Chubbs can help you if you have problems, they are both great with skis and close by.

Matt great advice.

My first freestyle ski was a stock ski with footholds and side exhaust.

Pipe will make a big difference.

I've got an X2 and '06 SJ. Did you by chance get your ski off Craigslist? I ride Blue Marsh, City Island and Jersey shore as much as possible.
